About Polly
Polly Esther started out writing greeting cards - the kind where the whole job is landing a pun in eight words or less. After a decade of birthdays, anniversaries and "sorry you're leaving" cards, she went full-time on wordplay and founded PunMagazine.
Today she leads every list on the site: writing originals, hunting down the classics worth keeping, and groan-testing each one before it goes live. She sorts them into clean and grown-up sets, ranks them by how hard people actually groaned, and re-checks the lists as new topics get added each month.
Her rule of thumb: a pun should land before you notice it. If it needs explaining, it doesn't make the cut.
