Editorial Policy
How every pun on PunMagazine is written, checked and kept fresh.
Last updated: June 2026
Originality
Our lists are written or hand-picked by our editor, Polly Esther. We do not scrape or copy pun lists from other sites. Classic, widely-shared one-liners may appear (puns are folk humour), but we write our own framing, examples and captions.
Groan-testing & ranking
Every pun is read aloud and groan-tested before it goes live. Lists are ordered by impact - the puns that land fastest sit near the top - not alphabetically or at random.
Clean vs adult
Each topic separates family-friendly puns from grown-up ones. Anything in an adult section is clearly labelled so the lists stay safe for classrooms, kids' parties and work captions.
Use of AI
Our pun generator can remix puns from a word you type, and may optionally use an AI model to suggest variations. AI output is a starting point for you to edit - it is not published to our topic pages without a human writing and checking it first.
Updates & review dates
We add new topics every month and re-check existing lists for quality and freshness. Topic pages show a "last reviewed" date so you can see when they were last touched.
Guest contributions
We welcome guest posts from outside contributors. Every submission is reviewed by our editor against the same quality bar as our own lists before it goes live, and guest articles sit only on dedicated blog and guide pages - never inside our topic lists. See write for us to pitch.
