What PunMagazine is
PunMagazine is an independent humour site and pun library. We collect, write and organise 5,000+ puns across 40+ topics - animals, food, occasions, nature, sports and more - so you can find the perfect line for a caption, card, classroom joke or brand tagline in seconds. Everything is free to copy, with no sign-up and no limits.
Why we exist
Most pun lists online are short, repetitive, or buried under ads. We wanted one place that treats wordplay seriously (without taking itself seriously): clean lists, sorted by how hard people groaned, split into family-friendly and grown-up sets, and checked by a real human before they go live.
How we work
- Every list is written or hand-picked by our editor, not scraped from other sites.
- Puns are groan-tested and sorted into clean and adult sections.
- We add new topics monthly and re-check existing lists for freshness.
- Our pun generator lets you mix or AI-remix puns from any word you type.

Meet Polly Esther
Polly Esther is the founding editor of PunMagazine and the person who reads, writes and groan-tests every list on the site. She spent ten years writing greeting cards - the kind where the entire job is landing a pun in eight words or fewer - before going full-time on wordplay.
These days she runs the whole library from her desk in Seagoville, Texas: a mug of coffee, a wall of sticky notes, and a small wooden "groan tester" that silently judges her work. She writes the originals, hunts down the classics worth keeping, splits every topic into clean and grown-up sets, and re-checks the lists as new topics are added each month.
Her one rule: a pun should land before you notice it. If it needs explaining, it doesn't make the cut.
